Mouse Lamin A/C (LMNA) ELISA Kit

This quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie measures endogenous Lamin A and Lamin C protein levels in mouse-derived samples, supporting research into nuclear envelope biology and laminopathies. Lamin A and Lamin C are type V intermediate filament proteins of roughly 65-74 kDa that assemble into the nuclear lamina, a meshwork underlying the inner nuclear membrane that provides mechanical support to the nucleus and participates in chromatin organization, DNA replication, and gene regulation. The two isoforms arise by alternative splicing of the LMNA gene: prelamin A carries a C-terminal CAAX motif and undergoes farnesylation followed by ZMPSTE24-dependent proteolytic maturation, whereas Lamin C lacks the CAAX tail and bypasses that processing.

Mouse models of LMNA dysfunction, including the Lmna G609G progeria knock-in and Zmpste24-deficient strains, are widely used to study Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, dilated cardiomyopathy, Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy, and Dunnigan-type familial partial lipodystrophy. Researchers frequently probe nuclear envelope protein expression in cardiac, skeletal muscle, adipose, and vascular tissues from these mice. Each kit is configured as 96 assays and accepts tissue homogenate lysates as input, producing an absorbance-based signal readable on standard microplate instruments.

ELISA results from this assay complement western blot and immunofluorescence analyses of Lamin A/C distribution and processing in mouse tissues, providing a quantitative bridge between imaging and biochemical readouts.
