Targeting the conventional kinesin-1 motor subunit encoded by KIF5B, this immunoassay from Assay Genie enables quantitative analysis in mouse specimens such as tissue homogenates. KIF5B drives anterograde transport of organelles, vesicles, and mRNA-protein complexes along microtubules, making it relevant for neuroscience studies on axonal trafficking, investigations of cytoskeletal transport in non-neuronal cell types, and translational oncology work where KIF5B-RET gene fusions and altered expression patterns are implicated in tumor biology. The in vitro procedure is intended for research use only and follows a microplate-based protocol that processes 96 assays per kit, allowing simultaneous handling of experimental samples and reference standards. Reagents should be kept refrigerated and protected from light until use, with reconstituted standards aliquoted to limit freeze-thaw exposure. Users will need a standard laboratory plate reader for absorbance measurement at the wavelength specified in the product manual. The kit supports work in cell biology, neurobiology, and disease research where motor protein abundance needs to be tracked in mouse model systems.
