Keratin 9 is a type I cytokeratin expressed predominantly in the suprabasal epidermal layers of palmar and plantar skin, where it contributes to the mechanical resilience of thick keratinized epithelia. Mutations in the KRT9 gene are linked to epidermolytic palmoplantar keratoderma, making accurate quantification of this protein valuable for dermatological research and studies of keratinocyte differentiation. This quantitative ELISA from Assay Genie measures mouse Keratin 9 in tissue homogenates and supports investigations into epidermal barrier function, wound healing, and inherited keratinization disorders. The product is intended for research use only.
The procedure runs on a microplate and produces a colorimetric signal, making it suitable for batch processing of experimental samples in a research laboratory. Investigators working with genetically modified mouse models, psoriatic skin inflammation, or barrier disruption phenotypes can use this kit to compare KRT9 expression levels across genotypes, developmental time points, or pharmacological treatment groups. Each kit ships with reference standards for calibration, reagents supplied in vials, and materials sufficient for 96 individual determinations per run.
