Description

IAPP, also known as amylin, is a peptide hormone that plays a key role in regulating glucose metabolism and insulin secretion. Dysregulation of IAPP has been implicated in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes and other metabolic disorders, making it a critical biomarker for studies of diabetes, obesity, and related metabolic diseases.

The competitive Mouse Islet Amyloid Polypeptide (IAPP) ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed for the precise measurement of IAPP levels in mouse serum, plasma, and tissue lysates. It provides a detection range of 15.6-1000pg/mL with a sensitivity of 8.18pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 6.3%, and an inter-assay CV of 8.1%. Specificity covers natural and recombinant mouse islet amyloid polypeptide, and the kit is validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Reported recovery is 89% (range 83-95) for serum and 91% (range 85-97) for plasma, with linearity demonstrated across serial dilutions of serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma.

Synonyms for the target include Amylin, Diabetes-associated peptide and DAP. The protein is secreted, has a molecular weight of 10,022 Da (UniProt P12968), and functions to selectively inhibit insulin-stimulated glucose utilization and glycogen deposition in muscle without affecting adipocyte glucose metabolism. It interacts with IDE and INS. For research use only.
