Description
Manufactured by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA is designed for the quantitative measurement of mouse Intelectin-1a (ITLN1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. The assay shows reactivity towards mouse samples and is calibrated to detect natural and recombinant mouse Intelectin-1a, with a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.162ng/mL.
Intelectin-1a is a calcium-dependent lectin that specifically recognizes microbial carbohydrate chains, including beta-linked D-galactofuranose and other glycans bearing a terminal acyclic 1,2-diol moiety. It binds to surface glycans of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria such as K. pneumoniae, S. pneumoniae, Y. pestis, P. mirabilis and P. vulgaris, but does not recognize mammalian glycans, supporting a role in host defense against microorganisms. The protein has also been described as a potential adipokine that enhances insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in adipocytes and increases AKT phosphorylation, with possible involvement in iron metabolism through interaction with lactoferrin (LTF).
The protein exists as a monomer and is annotated under UniProt entry O88310 (gene symbol Itln1, NCBI Gene ID 16429). It is localized to the cell membrane via a GPI anchor and is also secreted, with enrichment in lipid rafts. The kit is intended for research use only and falls within the cardiovascular research area.
