Insulin-like peptide 3 (INSL3) is a relaxin/insulin-family hormone secreted constitutively by testicular Leydig cells and, at lower levels, by ovarian theca cells, acting through the G-protein-coupled RXFP2 receptor. The Assay Genie kit supports quantitative measurement of mouse INSL3, a biomarker used in reproductive endocrinology, cryptorchidism modeling, and bone metabolism research where INSL3-mediated signaling influences osteoblast activity.

Because INSL3 release is non-pulsatile and largely independent of acute androgen fluctuation, circulating concentrations serve as a stable longitudinal indicator of Leydig cell functional capacity in male rodent studies. In female models, the same analyte informs investigations of theca cell activity, follicular development, and conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome. Researchers studying age-related endocrine decline in mice use declining serum INSL3 as a marker of reproductive aging that complements testosterone measurements.

The kit contains reagents, standards, and quality-control material supplied in vials sufficient for a full microplate run. Recommended storage is refrigerated and protected from light, with equilibration to room temperature before opening. The kit is intended for in vitro research use only, in laboratory workflows that include a standard microplate reader capable of measuring absorbance at the wavelength specified in the protocol booklet. Each batch is validated against defined performance criteria to support reproducible quantitation across runs.
