Mouse Heparin Cofactor II (HCII) ELISA Kit

Quantitative measurement of Heparin Cofactor II (HCII) in mouse plasma is enabled by this microplate-based ELISA kit from Assay Genie. HCII is a serine protease inhibitor (serpin) that selectively inactivates thrombin in the presence of dermatan sulfate and heparin, functioning as a complementary regulator to antithrombin III within the coagulation cascade. The assay supports in vitro research into hemostasis, thrombosis, vascular inflammation, and the interplay between complement and coagulation in murine model systems.

Run with mouse plasma samples, the kit provides 96 individual determinations through a colorimetric readout compatible with standard laboratory plate readers. Experimental applications include characterizing HCII levels in models of arterial and venous thrombosis, sepsis, atherosclerosis, and acute inflammatory responses, where HCII behaves as a positive acute-phase reactant. The assay is also used to study glycosaminoglycan-mediated serpin activation and to profile thrombin regulation in knockout or transgenic mouse lines.
