HDGF (Hepatoma-Derived Growth Factor) is a nuclear-targeted mitogen originally purified from conditioned medium of the Huh-7 human hepatoma cell line, where it was first described as a heparin-binding protein that stimulates proliferation of fibroblasts, vascular smooth muscle cells, endothelial cells, and many additional cell types. Since that original characterization, HDGF has been linked to hepatic regeneration, cardiac development, neuronal survival, wound healing, and the progression of several solid tumors, which has made quantitative measurement of circulating HDGF a recurring need in mouse models of disease.

This Assay Genie ELISA Kit is configured for research use only and provides the reagents needed to quantify mouse HDGF in serum samples, plasma samples, and other relevant research specimens by a chromogenic readout on a standard microplate reader. The kit is supplied in a format sufficient for 96 individual assays and is intended for laboratory investigators studying liver biology, oncology, cardiovascular development, or regenerative processes where HDGF expression in the mouse is of interest. Sufficient reagents are included to perform up to 96 determinations, and the kit should be stored under refrigerated conditions to preserve reagent activity prior to first use.

Working with mouse specimens requires careful adherence to the supplied protocol, including appropriate dilution of serum or plasma, use of the included wash buffer between incubation steps, and reading of the final chromogenic reaction at the wavelength specified in the product insert. Researchers are advised to run a standard curve on every plate and to include appropriate negative and positive controls so that quantitative comparisons of HDGF concentration between treatment groups remain reliable. The microplate-based workflow and the kit's dedicated mouse reactivity make it a practical choice for studies that need to track HDGF levels across multiple experimental cohorts.
