Mouse Haptoglobin (Hp) ELISA Kit

Manufactured by Assay Genie for the quantitative measurement of mouse haptoglobin, this sandwich ELISA kit is intended for cardiovascular and immunology research. Haptoglobin captures and combines with free plasma hemoglobin, enabling hepatic recycling of heme iron and helping to prevent kidney damage. The protein also acts as an antioxidant, exhibits antibacterial activity, and modulates aspects of the acute phase response. Dysregulation of haptoglobin has been linked to inflammation, cancer, and cardiovascular disease, making it a useful biomarker for mechanistic studies.

The assay is suitable for mouse serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids, and it detects natural and recombinant mouse haptoglobin. Reported performance values include a detection range of 1.95-125ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.975ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 5.0%, and an inter-assay CV of 7.3%. Recovery is reported at 87 (81-93)% for serum and 89 (83-95)% for plasma.

The target protein is a secreted, disulfide-linked tetramer of two alpha and two beta chains. Hemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes are cleared via interaction with the CD163 scavenger receptor on Kupffer cells. Synonyms for the protein include haptoglobin, Hp, and zonulin.
