The Mouse GS ELISA Kit from Assay Genie supports quantitative tracking of glutamine synthetase, the homooctameric enzyme encoded by the GLUL gene (also annotated GLNS) that assembles as eight ~42 kDa subunits around a central active site. The assay is widely cited in neuroscience studies of astrocyte glutamine shuttling, in hepatology research on ammonia clearance, and in oncology work targeting MYC-driven tumor glutamine dependency.

Unlike qualitative immunoblotting, the kit delivers a numeric readout across a calibrated standard series, removing the need for film scanning or densitometry normalization. Researchers comparing the kit with commercial antibody pairs typically report cleaner background and tighter replicates in tissue homogenate, because the matched capture and detection antibodies are pre-titrated against the recombinant mouse enzyme.

For sample preparation, freshly collected perfusate or conditioned medium should be kept on ice and loaded within two hours; tissue lysates are commonly prepared in Tris-based buffers with protease inhibitors and clarified at 12000 x g before dilution. The biotinylated detector and streptavidin-HRP concentrate should be brought to room temperature only briefly before dilution, and the TMB substrate must be shielded from direct light to preserve colour development. Reconstituted standard is stable for up to seven days when kept refrigerated; for longer storage, aliquot and freeze at -20 degrees C to limit repetitive freeze-thaw cycles.
