Description

Developed by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA kit is intended for the accurate quantification of Glycogen phosphorylase, muscle form (Pygm) in mouse samples, supporting research into glucose metabolism and glycogen degradation. The kit uses a colorimetric detection read-out. PYGM is an important allosteric enzyme involved in the breakdown of glycogen to release glucose for energy production in muscle cells, and dysregulation of PYGM activity has been linked to metabolic disorders such as glycogen storage disease and muscle disorders.

Reactive with mouse, the kit accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay provides a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.156ng/mL, with specificity directed against natural and recombinant mouse Glycogen phosphorylase, muscle form. The target protein is also known by the synonym Myophosphorylase. Functionally, PYGM acts as a homodimer, with dimers associating into a tetramer to form the enzymatically active phosphorylase A; phosphorylation of Ser-14 converts phosphorylase B to phosphorylase A.

UniProt accession: Q9WUB3. For research use only.
