Description

From Assay Genie, this Mouse Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase Autoantibody IgM ELISA Kit (also referred to as GAD-Ab-IgM) employs an Indirect ELISA with a Biotin-based detection method. It is designed for the in vitro quantitative determination of Mouse GAD-Ab-IgM concentrations in serum, plasma and other biological fluids, and is labelled for research use only.

Reported performance characteristics include a sensitivity of 0.469ng/ml and an assay range of 0.781-50ng/ml. Intra-assay precision is given as CV <8% and inter-assay precision as CV <10%. Spiked-sample recovery averages 96% for serum (range 91-104%), 91% for EDTA plasma (range 85-97%) and 95% for UFH plasma (range 89-102%). Linearity testing on serially diluted samples (1:2, 1:4 and 1:8) returned ranges of 90-101%, 86-97% and 86-105% for serum respectively. Kit components are stored at 4°C for 6 months.

The target analyte is glutamate decarboxylase 2 (Gad2; UniProt P48320; NCBI Gene ID 14417), a 69.2 kDa enzyme that catalyses the production of GABA. Autoantibodies directed against this protein are markers of relevance in autoimmune conditions such as type 1 diabetes and in neurological disorders including stiff person syndrome.
