Quantitative measurement of the GluN2A subunit of the NMDA receptor is supported by this immunoassay from Assay Genie, configured in a 96-assay kit format for neuroscience workflows. The kit enables research on ionotropic glutamate receptor signaling, synaptic plasticity, and excitotoxicity, where GRIN2A expression in mouse models is studied as a marker of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor subunit composition during postnatal development and in neurodevelopmental disease.

Validated input material includes mouse tissue homogenates and cell lysates, making the assay applicable to studies of brain-region-specific expression, primary neuronal cultures, and heterologous cell lines expressing recombinant NR2A. The chromogenic, absorbance-based readout is captured on a standard microplate reader, and the kit is supplied complete with pre-coated plate, detection antibody, standards, and buffers required to generate a calibration curve for absolute quantitation.

GRIN2A encodes the NR2A subunit, an obligate component of forebrain NMDA receptors that governs channel kinetics, Mg2+ block, and trafficking to the postsynaptic density. Tracking NR2A protein levels supports investigations into long-term potentiation, learning and memory circuits, and the pathophysiology of GRIN2A-related epilepsy-aphasia spectrum disorders.
