Mouse Glial fibrillary acidic protein (Gfap) ELISA Kit

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of mouse Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP), a class-III intermediate filament that serves as a cell-specific marker distinguishing astrocytes from other glial cells in the central nervous system.

The kit uses a colorimetric ELISA detection method and is reactive with mouse samples. It detects both natural and recombinant mouse GFAP. Compatible sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Performance specifications reported for the assay include a detection range of 31.2–2000 pg/mL, a sensitivity of 15.7 pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 6.2% and an inter-assay CV of 8.5%. Serum recovery averaged 104% (range 98–110%) and plasma recovery averaged 106% (range 100–112%). Linearity data are provided across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma.

GFAP is widely studied in neuroscience because elevated levels are associated with neuroinflammation, brain injury and neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, and mutations in the gene are linked to Alexander disease. The kit is intended for research use only.
