The Mouse Ghrelin PharmaGenie ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is built around a competitive ELISA workflow that quantifies ghrelin, the 28-amino acid orexigenic peptide hormone secreted primarily by X/A-like cells of the stomach fundus. Researchers studying appetite regulation, energy homeostasis, growth hormone release, cachexia, bariatric surgery models, and fasting-induced metabolic responses use this kit to measure ghrelin levels in cell culture supernatants and serum samples from murine models.

Each kit is supplied with a pre-coated microplate, lyophilized recombinant ghrelin standards, a biotinylated detection reagent, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer concentrate, and substrate solution. In the competitive binding step, endogenous ghrelin in the sample competes with conjugated ghrelin for limited antibody binding sites, and absorbance is read on a standard microplate reader.
