Description

Designed by Assay Genie for research applications in neuroscience, this sandwich ELISA kit enables the quantitative detection of mouse glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), a key protein found in astrocytes and involved in maintaining the structure and function of the central nervous system. The kit uses a double-antibody, colorimetric format and is validated for mouse serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples.

Performance specifications reported by Assay Genie include a sensitivity of 9.375 pg/mL and a working range of 15.625–1000 pg/mL. Linearity across 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions was 85–91%, 89–99% and 86–97% for serum (n=5); 86–99%, 83–93% and 85–104% for EDTA plasma (n=5); and 87–99%, 82–99% and 91–104% for heparin plasma (n=5). Spike recovery ranges were 90–101% for serum (average 97%), 87–104% for EDTA plasma (average 96%) and 91–105% for heparin plasma (average 98%). The workflow involves equilibrating reagents and TMB substrate to room temperature, loading standards and samples, primary incubation at 37°C for 90 minutes, biotin-labeled detection antibody binding for 60 minutes, HRP-streptavidin incubation for 30 minutes, TMB color development in the dark for 10–20 minutes, and absorbance reading at 450 nm immediately after stop solution is added. Unopened kits are stored at 2–8°C for 12 months. The kit is positioned as a biomarker tool for studies of brain injuries, neurodegenerative diseases and psychiatric disorders.
