Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie using colorimetric detection, designed for the detection of Glutamate decarboxylase 1 (GAD1) in mouse serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, cell or tissue lysates, and other liquid samples. Built on a double-antibody sandwich format, the kit reports a sensitivity of 0.234 ng/mL across a working range of 0.391–25 ng/mL. It is positioned for research in neuroscience, where GAD1 is studied as the enzyme involved in producing the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain, and where its dysregulation has been implicated in conditions including epilepsy, schizophrenia, and Parkinson's disease.

Assay Genie reports validated linearity and recovery for serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma. Reagents are stored at 2–8°C and the kit is stated to remain stable for 12 months under those conditions. The workflow comprises a primary incubation at 37°C for 90 minutes, biotin-labelled detection antibody binding for 60 minutes, HRP-Streptavidin (SABC) binding for 30 minutes, and TMB color development, with absorbance read at 450 nm.

Mouse GAD1 corresponds to Uniprot entry P48318 and is referenced under synonyms including GAD67, GAD25, and glutamate decarboxylase 67 kDa isoform, providing a tool for researchers investigating GABA biosynthesis and related neurological mechanisms.
