Mouse Follistatin (Fst) ELISA Kit

This sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the precise measurement of follistatin levels in mouse serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Follistatin is described as a key protein that regulates the activity of certain growth factors, particularly in the context of muscle growth and development, and plays a vital role in modulating various biological processes, including fertility, metabolism, and immune function.

The assay detects natural and recombinant mouse follistatin with a detection range of 0.625-40 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.314 ng/mL. Reported intra-assay CV is 5.7% and inter-assay CV is 8.4%. Linearity in serum spans 96-96% at 1:2 through 108-117% at 1:16, in EDTA plasma 86-99% through 104-113%, and in heparin plasma 101-111% through 114-124%. Recovery averages 95% for serum (range 89-101%) and 97% for plasma (range 91-103%).

Follistatin functions as an activin antagonist by binding directly to activin, and acts as a specific inhibitor of the biosynthesis and secretion of pituitary follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). The protein is secreted, exists as a monomer, and is associated with UniProt accession P47931. The kit is supplied for research use only.
