About Filamin A (FLNa)

Filamin A is a large, 280 kDa actin-binding protein that organizes the actin cytoskeleton by cross-linking orthogonal filaments into three-dimensional networks. Beyond its structural role, FLNa scaffolds more than 90 binding partners and participates in mechanotransduction, cell migration, receptor signaling, and focal adhesion turnover. The Assay Genie Mouse FLNa kit enables researchers to quantify endogenous Filamin A levels in mouse-derived samples, supporting studies of cytoskeletal remodeling, neuronal migration, megakaryocyte maturation, and connective tissue development.

Research Applications

This assay is widely used in cardiovascular research, where FLNa is essential for normal heart valve and vascular morphogenesis, and in neuroscience, where loss-of-function mutations cause periventricular nodular heterotopia and cortical malformation. Investigators also use it to evaluate FLNa expression in tumor invasion and metastasis models, integrin signaling studies, and phenotypic characterization of knockout or conditional mutant mouse lines. For research use only.

Assay Workflow

The pre-coated microplate format uses a capture antibody specific for mouse FLNa and a biotinylated detection antibody with HRP development. Researchers can process up to 96 samples simultaneously, with a sample volume of 100 μL recommended for each well. Dilutions for serum, plasma, and tissue lysates are provided in the included protocol booklet. Each kit contains the assay plate, lyophilized standards, detection reagents, wash buffer, and substrate sufficient for the full plate. Reagents should be stored refrigerated upon arrival and protected from light to preserve enzyme activity.
