Mouse Ferritin, mitochondrial (Ftmt) ELISA Kit

Ftmt is a mitochondrial protein that stores iron in a soluble, non-toxic, readily available form and is important for iron homeostasis. It exhibits ferroxidase activity, taking up iron in the ferrous form and depositing it as ferric hydroxides after oxidation. The functional molecule is a roughly spherical homooligomer of 24 subunits containing a central cavity that holds the polymeric mineral iron core. Dysregulation of Ftmt has been associated with iron overload disorders, neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, making it a relevant target for research into iron metabolism and mitochondrial function in mouse models.
