Description

A sandwich-format ELISA kit from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative measurement of mouse Fatty acid-binding protein, epidermal (FABP5) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is intended for research use only, with specificity for natural and recombinant mouse FABP5.

FABP5, also known by synonyms including Epidermal-type fatty acid-binding protein, Keratinocyte lipid-binding protein, Psoriasis-associated fatty acid-binding protein homolog, E-FABP, PA-FABP, Fabpe, Klbp and Mal1, functions as an intracellular carrier of long-chain fatty acids and related active lipids. Aberrant expression has been linked in mouse models to skin disorders, inflammatory conditions and metabolic disease, making it a useful biomarker for research into these conditions.

Stated performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.083 ng/mL, with intra-assay CV of 6.9% and inter-assay CV of 8.8%. In spiked samples, recovery averaged 101% (range 95–107%) in serum and 103% (range 97–109%) in plasma. Linearity across serial dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 was demonstrated for serum (99–109%, 94–104%, 96–104%, 100–113%), EDTA plasma (106–116%, 109–119%, 108–116%, 108–117%) and heparin plasma (90–100%, 119–129%, 89–98%, 88–88%).
