Description

Designed for the quantitative measurement of mouse adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (FABP4), this sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie supports research into lipid metabolism and cardiovascular biology.

Adipocyte FABP4 is a lipid transport protein that binds long-chain fatty acids and retinoic acid and delivers them to cognate receptors in the nucleus. Also referred to as A-FABP, ALBP, aP2, Adipocyte lipid-binding protein, and Fatty acid-binding protein 4, the protein exists as a monomer or homodimer, interacts with PPARG, and is the predominant fatty acid binding protein of adipocytes, also being expressed in macrophages. FABP4 has been implicated in obesity, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular disease, making it a valuable biomarker for metabolic research. The assay reacts with mouse samples and is validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids, with specificity toward natural and recombinant mouse FABP4.

Using a colorimetric detection method, the assay covers a detection range of 15.6–1000 pg/mL with a sensitivity of 7.8 pg/mL. Reported precision includes an intra-assay CV of 6.1% and an inter-assay CV of 8.9%. Spike-recovery averages are 93% in serum (range 87–99%) and 95% in plasma (range 89–101%), and linearity has been characterized across serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma dilutions at ratios from 1:2 to 1:16. The associated Uniprot reference is P04117. For research use only.
