Intestinal fatty acid binding protein (FABP2), also known as I-FABP, is a 15 kDa cytosolic carrier of long-chain fatty acids expressed predominantly in mature enterocytes of the small intestinal villi. Release of FABP2 into circulation functions as an early biomarker of enterocyte damage in mouse models of gut ischemia, inflammatory bowel disease, mucosal barrier disruption, and acute intestinal injury.

This quantitative ELISA from Assay Genie enables researchers to measure I-FABP concentrations in mouse specimens and is configured as a complete kit sufficient for 96 assays on a single microplate. The kit supports inflammatory, metabolic, and gastrointestinal research workflows and is intended for use with serum-derived samples, plasma-derived samples, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants, supporting both in vivo and in vitro studies. Working standards and prepared samples should be kept refrigerated until use, and reconstituted reagents should be handled according to the enclosed protocol.

Components include pre-coated plate strips, detection antibody, lyophilized standard, diluents, wash buffer, and substrate solution. Researchers studying intestinal epithelial injury, lipid transport, gut barrier function, and mucosal inflammation will find this assay a useful addition to their biomarker panel.
