Description

This Sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is intended for the quantitative detection of mouse Fatty Acid Binding Protein 7 (FABP7) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. The assay uses a colorimetric, double-antibody sandwich format. According to the manufacturer, FABP7 is involved in fatty acid transport and metabolism, with described roles in brain development, neuroprotection, and tumorigenesis, and its dysregulation has been linked to neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and metabolic disorders, making it a relevant biomarker for related research.

Performance figures quoted from the manufacturer include a sensitivity of 0.938 ng/mL and a standard range of 1.563–100 ng/mL. Reported linearity (n = 5) at 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions is 86–103%, 82–94% and 82–94% for serum; 86–104%, 85–100% and 83–93% for EDTA plasma; and 90–102%, 82–100% and 86–100% for heparin plasma. Average recovery values are 99% for serum, 94% for EDTA plasma and 96% for heparin plasma. The kit is stored at 2-8°C for 12 months and the associated UniProt accession is P51880 within the Signal Transduction research area.

The protocol involves equilibrating reagents and TMB substrate to room temperature, loading standards, samples and blanks, and incubating the pre-coated plate at 37°C for 90 minutes. Biotin-labeled detection antibody is then added for a 60-minute incubation, followed by HRP-Streptavidin for 30 minutes. TMB substrate is added for 10–20 minutes in the dark, the reaction is stopped, and absorbance is read at 450 nm.
