AKR1C6 plays a crucial role in steroid hormone metabolism, particularly in the conversion of estradiol to estrone, and has been implicated in hormone-related cancers and reproductive disorders, making it a valuable biomarker for studying these conditions. The assay is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. It has a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.089ng/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 7.4% and an inter-assay CV of 9.6%.
