The manufacturer reports a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL, sensitivity of 0.08 ng/mL, intra-assay CV of 6.2%, and inter-assay CV of 8.1%. Linearity in serum at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions was 107–116%, 86–96%, 96–105% and 105–115% respectively; EDTA plasma gave 100–110%, 104–114%, 102–112% and 105–115%; heparin plasma gave 100–110%, 110–120%, 89–99% and 103–113%. Recovery averaged 87% (range 81–93%) in serum and 89% (range 83–95%) in plasma.

Acceptable sample types are serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids, with specificity for natural and recombinant mouse Equilibrative nucleoside transporter 1. The target is a multi-pass membrane protein (UniProt Q9JIM1, NCBI Gene ID 63959, molecular weight 50,076 Da) predominantly localised to the basolateral cell membrane and also present at the apical cell membrane. It functions as a sodium-independent equilibrative transporter of nucleosides, sensitive to inhibition by nitrobenzylmercaptopurine riboside (NBMPR) and with higher affinity for adenosine.
