DAB2 is an adaptor protein that functions as a clathrin-associated sorting protein (CLASP) required for clathrin-mediated endocytosis of selected cargo proteins. It participates in TGF-beta receptor signaling, facilitating phosphorylation of the signal transducer SMAD2, and has been proposed to inhibit the canonical Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway and to act as a tumor suppressor.
