Mouse Cytochrome c, somatic (Cycs) ELISA Kit

A Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie enables quantitative detection of mouse Cytochrome c, somatic (Cycs) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids using a colorimetric read-out. The assay reacts with mouse samples and recognises natural and recombinant mouse Cytochrome c, somatic, with the target protein localised to the mitochondrion intermembrane space where it is loosely associated with the inner membrane.

Performance figures quoted by the manufacturer include a detection range of 78-5000 pg/mL, a sensitivity of 43 pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 6.8% and an inter-assay CV of 9.2%. Reported linearity for serum (N=5) ranges from 102-114% at 1:2 to 90-102% at 1:16, with EDTA plasma spanning 95-105% to 105-115% across the same dilutions and heparin plasma covering 85-95% to 108-117%. Recovery averages 92% in serum (range 86-98%) and 94% in plasma (range 88-100%).

Cytochrome c is described in the kit literature as playing a role in apoptosis, with release from altered mitochondrial membranes binding Apaf-1 and triggering caspase-9 activation.
