The assay detects natural and recombinant mouse complement factor I, also referred to as C3B/C4B inactivator or If, and is intended for research use in the field of immunology. Complement factor I is a serine protease that circulates as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of a light and heavy chain, and is responsible for cleaving the alpha-chains of C4b and C3b in the presence of the cofactors C4-binding protein and factor H, playing a central role in the classical and alternative complement pathways.
