Description

Designed for the accurate quantification of mouse Collagen alpha-1(IV) chain (Col4a1), this Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is intended for research applications studying basement membrane biology. The assay detects Col4a1 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, with specificity for natural and recombinant mouse Collagen alpha-1(IV) chain.

Performance is supported by a detection range of 1.56-100ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.82ng/mL, with an Intra-CV of 6.6% and an Inter-CV of 8.3%. Linearity has been validated across serial dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16 for serum (115-124%, 112-120%, 109-118%, 99-110%), EDTA plasma (101-111%, 93-102%, 93-102%, 92-104%) and heparin plasma (109-119%, 97-105%, 88-88%, 104-114%). Recovery is reported at 103% (range 97-109%) for serum and 105% (range 99-111%) for plasma.

Col4a1 is the alpha-1 subunit of type IV collagen and a major structural component of glomerular basement membranes, where it forms a 'chicken-wire' meshwork together with laminins, proteoglycans and entactin/nidogen. Dysregulation of COL4A1 has been linked to kidney diseases, vascular disorders and certain cancers. The C-terminal NC1 domain, known as Arresten, has been described as inhibiting angiogenesis and tumor formation, and the C-terminal half is reported to possess anti-angiogenic activity by inhibiting endothelial cell proliferation, migration and tube formation. For research use only.
