Mouse Cell surface glycoprotein MUC18 (Mcam) ELISA Kit

This sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is intended for the quantitative measurement of mouse Cell surface glycoprotein MUC18 (Mcam), a single-pass type I membrane protein (UniProt Q8R2Y2) also known by the synonyms CD146, Gicerin, Muc18, melanoma cell adhesion molecule and melanoma-associated antigen MUC18.

It is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, with specificity for natural and recombinant mouse Cell surface glycoprotein MUC18. The reported detection range is 0.156-10 ng/mL and the sensitivity is 0.078 ng/mL.

MUC18 plays a role in cell adhesion and in the cohesion of the endothelial monolayer at intercellular junctions in vascular tissue. Its expression may also allow melanoma cells to interact with cellular elements of the vascular system, enhancing hematogeneous tumor spread, and it may act as an adhesion molecule active in neural crest cells during embryonic development. It also acts as a surface receptor that triggers tyrosine phosphorylation of FYN and PTK2/FAK1, along with a transient increase in the intracellular calcium concentration.
