About CD40L and Assay Use

CD40L (also known as CD154 or TNFSF5) is a type II transmembrane protein of the TNF family, predominantly expressed on activated CD4+ T cells. It binds CD40 on B cells, dendritic cells, and macrophages, driving B cell proliferation, immunoglobulin class switching, and germinal center formation. Soluble CD40L is measurable in serum and plasma and is used as a biomarker in immunology, transplantation, autoimmune disease, and cardiovascular research.
