Mouse Cathepsin D (Ctsd) ELISA Kit

Designed for the quantitative measurement of mouse Cathepsin D (CTSD), this sandwich ELISA kit is supplied by Assay Genie for research use only. Using a colorimetric detection method, the assay is intended to support studies of this lysosomal aspartyl protease in disease research.

According to the manufacturer, the assay detects natural and recombinant mouse Cathepsin D in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants, and other biological fluids. Reported performance characteristics include a sensitivity of 39 pg/mL, a detection range of 78-5000 pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 6.2%, and an inter-assay CV of 7.8%. Recovery in serum averaged 100% with a range of 94-106%, while plasma recovery averaged 102% with a range of 96-108%.

Cathepsin D (EC 3.4.23.5) is an acid protease active in intracellular protein breakdown that has been linked to the pathogenesis of breast cancer and possibly Alzheimer disease. The protein localises to the lysosome, melanosome, and extracellular space, and consists of a light chain and a heavy chain. It interacts with ADAM30, leading to activation of CTSD, and plays a role in APP processing following cleavage and activation by ADAM30.
