Description

This colorimetric Sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is intended for research use only and is designed for the quantitative measurement of mouse Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 1 (Ceacam1). The assay reacts with mouse samples, including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and detects both natural and recombinant mouse Ceacam1.

Quoted performance figures include a detection range of 78-5000pg/ml, a sensitivity of 40.2pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 5.1% and an inter-assay CV of 6.9%. Reported linearity in serum runs from 96-104% at 1:2 dilution to 103-112% at 1:16; EDTA plasma dilutions span 85-95% at 1:2 to 108-108% at 1:16; heparin plasma dilutions span 86-95% at 1:2 to 102-112% at 1:16. Recovery averages 83% (range 80-89%) in serum and 85% (range 80-91%) in plasma.

Ceacam1 is a cell-cell adhesion molecule of the immunoglobulin superfamily reported to have tumour suppressor activity in prostate carcinoma. In the context of microbial infection it serves as receptor for murine coronavirus (MHV) S1 spike glycoprotein. The protein is abundantly expressed in epithelia, vessel endothelia, trophoblasts, platelets and neutrophilic granulocytes, and is also present in B cells, T cells, NK cells, macrophages and dendritic cells, situating the kit within the immunology research area.
