Mouse Calpastatin (Cast) ELISA Kit

The assay is validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, with specificity for natural and recombinant mouse calpastatin. According to the manufacturer's specifications, the detection range spans 0.156–10 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.082 ng/mL. The kit is targeted at neuroscience research applications.

Calpastatin is an endogenous inhibitor of calpain, a calcium-dependent cysteine protease, and is implicated in cell migration, adhesion and apoptosis. Dysregulation has been linked to muscular dystrophy, Alzheimer's disease and cancer, making this protein a valuable biomarker for studying these conditions. The target protein corresponds to UniProt entry P51125 with a molecular weight of 76,608 Da, and is also known by the synonym Calpain inhibitor.
