Quantify the pro-apoptotic BH3-only Bcl-2 family member BID in mouse specimens with this 96-assay ELISA kit from Assay Genie. BID links extrinsic death-receptor signaling to the mitochondrial intrinsic apoptosis pathway: caspase-8 cleavage generates truncated tBID, which translocates to mitochondria and triggers cytochrome c release downstream of Bax and Bak activation. Investigators studying apoptosis regulation, chemotherapy response, or neurodegeneration use this reagent to measure BID levels in cell culture supernatants, plasma, or serum from murine models.

Each kit provides reagents sufficient for ninety-six determinations in a microplate strip plate format. The chromogenic read-out is measured on a standard plate reader, with sample volume calibrated for low-microliter mouse specimens. Reconstituted reagents are stored at the temperatures specified in the protocol booklet, refrigerated for working solutions and frozen for long-term stability of antibody components. The kit is intended for research use only and includes a strip plate, capture and detection antibodies, recombinant mouse BID standards, assay buffers, chromogenic substrate solution, and stop reagent.

Typical workflows pair this ELISA with western blot confirmation of full-length BID (~22 kDa) versus cleaved tBID (~15 kDa) fragments, or with downstream caspase-3 and caspase-7 activity assays to connect protein quantification to functional apoptosis readouts. Mouse strain background and tissue collection timing relative to apoptotic stimulus should be recorded, since baseline BID expression varies with genetic background, age, and disease model.
