Description

From Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of mouse betatrophin (also known as angiopoietin-like protein 8, ANGPTL8, Lipasin, Rifl, or the gene product Gm6484) across a working range of 0.156-10 ng/mL. The assay uses a sandwich format with colorimetric detection, read at 450 nm on a standard microplate reader.

Betatrophin is a secreted hormone that specifically promotes pancreatic beta cell proliferation and beta cell mass expansion, and it also acts as a blood lipid regulator that influences serum triglyceride levels, potentially through interaction with ANGPTL3. It is therefore a relevant biomarker for research into metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes. The target protein (UniProt Q8R1L8, NCBI gene Angptl8) is located on mouse chromosome 9|9 A3 and has a reported molecular weight of 22.5 kD.

The kit is intended for research use only and has been validated for use with mouse serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants. The included protocol also covers handling of cell lysates, tissue homogenates, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, and breast milk. Reagents should be stored according to the temperatures specified in the kit documentation, and samples should be aliquoted and stored at -80°C to avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
