Mouse Beta-klotho (Klb) ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of beta-klotho in mouse serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method, is specific for natural and recombinant mouse beta-klotho, and is intended for research use only.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 31.2-2000pg/ml and a sensitivity of 15.62pg/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.2% and inter-assay CV is 6.6%. Recovery ranges from 80-89% in serum (average 83%) and 80-91% in plasma (average 85%). Linearity testing across serial dilutions (1:2 to 1:16) showed results of 95-105%, 101-113%, 96-106% and 105-114% for serum; 94-106%, 107-116%, 110-119% and 94-102% for EDTA plasma; and 107-119%, 102-111%, 111-123% and 84-96% for heparin plasma.

Beta-klotho, also known as Klotho beta-like protein, BKL or Betakl, is a single-pass type III membrane protein localised to the cell membrane. It contributes to the transcriptional repression of cholesterol 7-alpha-hydroxylase (CYP7A1), the rate-limiting enzyme in bile acid synthesis, and increases the ability of FGFR1 and FGFR4 to bind FGF21. Dysregulation of beta-klotho has been linked to metabolic disorders such as obesity, diabetes and liver disease, making it a valuable biomarker for research into these conditions.
