A quantitative in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) from Assay Genie enables researchers to measure Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) in mouse-derived specimens. AST, also known as glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase or GOT, is the cytosolic and mitochondrial enzyme released into circulation during hepatocellular injury, cardiac ischemia, and skeletal muscle damage, making circulating AST a standard serum biomarker in preclinical liver and toxicology research.

The kit is validated for use with samples collected from mouse blood (serum or plasma) and from tissue homogenates, supporting studies of acute and chronic liver disease models, drug-induced hepatotoxicity screening, and injury assessment in cardiovascular and muscular pathology research. Investigators apply the assay to track AST release across time-course experiments following therapeutic intervention, to evaluate hepatic protection by candidate compounds, and to characterize transaminase profiles in transgenic and knockout mouse lines.

Each Mouse Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST) ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is supplied as a 96-assay batch in a microplate. Pre-coated wells are provided alongside a complete reagent set for generating standard curves alongside unknown samples. The accompanying protocol details dilution guidance for both blood-derived fractions and tissue-derived matrices, recommended incubation parameters, and endpoint measurement using a standard plate reader at the appropriate wavelength for the chromogenic substrate. Tissue homogenate preparation generally relies on PBS-based buffer supplemented with protease inhibitors, after which clarified supernatants are loaded directly or diluted to fall within the dynamic range of the standard curve.
