The mitochondrial AST2 isoform, also known as glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase 2 (GOT2), plays a central role in cellular amino acid metabolism and the malate-aspartate redox shuttle. This 96-assay immunoassay kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of mouse AST2 across multiple specimen types, including tissue homogenates and liquid samples such as serum or plasma. The product is for research use only and supports studies of hepatic injury, cardiac ischemia, metabolic dysfunction, and mitochondrial disease in murine models.

Each kit ships with a pre-coated microplate, lyophilized recombinant standards, a detection antibody concentrate, substrate reagent, wash buffer, and assay diluent, sufficient for unknowns, internal controls, and a full standard curve in one plate run. The capture-and-detection antibody workflow yields an enzymatic reporter signal that is recorded on a standard microplate reader at the wavelength specified in the kit manual.

Aspartate aminotransferase enzymes catalyze the reversible transamination between oxaloacetate and glutamate. The mitochondrial GOT2 isoform, in particular, contributes to NAD+/NADH shuttling between the cytosol and mitochondrial matrix, so altered AST2 levels in mouse tissue or circulation can serve as a biomarker of mitochondrial stress, hepatocellular damage, or myocardial injury.

Storage and handling: keep unopened components refrigerated and protect from light until first use. Reconstituted reagents should be aliquoted to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and all kit components should equilibrate to room temperature before the assay is initiated.
