Arginase is a manganese-containing enzyme that hydrolyzes L-arginine to ornithine and urea, occupying a central position in hepatic urea cycle metabolism. Two isoforms exist in mammals — cytosolic Arg1, abundant in hepatocytes and M2-polarized macrophages, and mitochondrial Arg2, expressed in kidney, brain, and additional tissues. Quantifying arginase levels is widely used in studies of liver injury, fibrotic and wound-healing models, parasitic infection, and the M1-versus-M2 macrophage polarization that shapes inflammatory and tumor microenvironments.
This mouse-reactive ELISA from Assay Genie uses matched antibodies directed against murine arginase, allowing researchers to measure endogenous protein in plasma and serum specimens, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants. The kit provides reagents sufficient for 96 determinations on a microplate, with a colorimetric read-out compatible with standard laboratory plate readers. The assay supports immunology, hepatology, and metabolic research workflows where precise quantitation of mouse arginase is required for research use only.
