This quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie is built to measure alpha1-antitrypsin (A1AT, SERPINA1) in mouse research samples. A1AT is a 52 kDa acute-phase glycoprotein synthesized mainly in the liver; its principal physiological role is inhibiting neutrophil elastase, and altered circulating levels are investigated in murine models of emphysema, liver injury, inflammation, and protease/anti-protease imbalance.

For research use only, the kit is supplied with a pre-coated microplate, lyophilized standards, a labelled detection antibody, and the buffers and substrate required to complete the workflow — a complete set of reagents that supports 96 tests per plate. The format uses a matched antibody pair, with the analyte captured between an immobilized antibody on the plate and a labelled detection antibody added in solution; signal intensity is read on a conventional plate reader and is proportional to A1AT concentration in each well.

Reconstituted standards and unused strip wells should be refrigerated on arrival and kept cold between uses to preserve antibody activity. The intended use is profiling A1AT in blood-derived specimens harvested from mouse disease models — for example comparing circulating samples from wild-type and transgenic strains, evaluating hepatic A1AT output under inflammatory or toxic challenge, or monitoring neutrophil-elastase inhibition in lung-injury studies. A standard curve generated from the included calibrators is used to interpolate unknown concentrations, with sample-dilution guidance included in the protocol to bring high-concentration specimens into the readable range.
