Description

Assay Genie supplies a sandwich ELISA kit for measuring mouse Alpha-crystallin A chain (Cryaa), also referred to by the synonym Crya1. The kit is reactive with mouse samples and detects natural and recombinant CRYAA in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, for research use only within the Neurosciences field.

Reported performance figures include a detection range of 0.78–50 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.43 ng/mL. Mouse CRYAA is a major structural protein of the eye lens, a member of the small heat shock protein (sHSP/HSP20) family with a molecular weight of 19,792 Da. It contributes to lens transparency and refractive index and exhibits chaperone-like activity that prevents aggregation of various proteins under stress conditions.

The protein is encoded by the Cryaa gene (NCBI Gene ID: 12954; UniProt P24622) and localises to the cytoplasm and nucleus, translocating to sub-nuclear SC35 splicing speckles during heat shock. Native CRYAA assembles as a heteropolymer of three CRYAA and one CRYAB subunits, with inter-subunit zinc bridging enhancing stability, and can also form homodimers and higher homooligomers. Intra-assay CV, inter-assay CV, linearity, and recovery data are provided with the kit, and component-specific storage details are listed in the enclosed documentation.
