Used to quantitate the AMBP-derived protein in murine samples, the Assay Genie Mouse Alpha-1-Microglobulin/Bikunin Precursor (a1M) ELISA Kit supports research into heme metabolism, oxidative stress, and protease–antiprotease balance. The AMBP gene encodes a precursor that is proteolytically processed to yield two biologically active proteins: alpha-1-microglobulin (a1M), a heme-binding protein associated with redox regulation, and bikunin, a Kunitz-type serine protease inhibitor. Mouse studies of renal tubular function, hepatic injury, acute kidney injury, and inflammation use this in vitro assay for quantitative protein measurement. Alpha-1-microglobulin has been characterized as a biomarker in models of chronic liver disease, and the kit is intended for research use only in translational work on tissue-protective mechanisms.
