Alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT, also abbreviated a1AT) is a circulating serine protease inhibitor produced mainly by hepatocytes that protects lower respiratory tract tissue by neutralizing neutrophil elastase. Deficiency or dysfunction of this protein is implicated in early-onset panacinar emphysema, neonatal hepatitis, and certain forms of cirrhosis, making quantitative measurement valuable in pulmonary and hepatic research.

This colorimetric immunoassay kit from Assay Genie is configured for 96 individual determinations and is engineered for use with mouse-derived specimens. Compatible sample inputs include serum-type specimens, plasma-type specimens, tissue-derived homogenates, cell lysates, and clarified cell culture supernatant. The procedure follows a standard microplate-based ELISA workflow, and absorbance readout is performed on a standard plate reader.

Intended for research use only, the kit supports in vivo and in vitro studies investigating protease-antiprotease balance, acute-phase reactant behaviour, transgenic mouse phenotypes, and pharmacological modulation of neutrophil elastase activity. Each pack is supplied as a complete kit containing pre-coated plate, standards, detection reagents, and buffer solutions sufficient for the full 96-assay run.
