Description

Designed by Assay Genie for research use, this sandwich-format ELISA kit enables quantitative measurement of mouse aldose reductase (Akr1b1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Aldose reductase, also known as AKR1B1, is a key enzyme in the polyol pathway that catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of a wide variety of carbonyl-containing compounds to their corresponding alcohols, including the reduction of glucose to sorbitol during hyperglycemia. Elevated levels of this enzyme have been linked to diabetic retinopathy, neuropathy, and nephropathy.

The assay uses ELISA detection and is specific for natural and recombinant mouse aldose reductase. It has a detection range of 15.6-1000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 7.9pg/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 5.3% and an inter-assay CV of 8.9%. At dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16, serum linearity ranges from 85% to 113%, while recovery is 101% (95-107%) for serum and 103% (97-109%) for plasma. The target protein is a cytoplasmic monomer (UniProt P45376) with a molecular weight of 35,732 Da (NCBI Gene ID 11677). For research use only.
