Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE2) is a zinc metallopeptidase that counter-regulates the renin-angiotensin system by converting angiotensin II into angiotensin-(1-7), and it acts as the cell-surface receptor exploited by several coronaviruses to enter host cells. This in vitro assay kit, part of Assay Genie's PharmaGenie reagent family, supplies the reagents necessary to quantify mouse ACE2 protein in cell culture supernatants, plasma, and serum harvested from murine research models.
Each pack supports 96 assays in a microplate-based workflow, and detection relies on a chromogenic substrate reaction whose intensity is read on a standard absorbance plate reader. The quantitative format allows comparison of ACE2 expression between wild-type and genetically modified mouse strains, between tissue-specific knockout and control animals, or between pharmacologically treated cohorts and vehicle controls.
Documented reactivity is restricted to mouse ACE2, so results from human, rat, or other non-murine samples should be interpreted with caution and validated independently. The reagents are supplied for research use only and are intended to support studies of cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal, and infectious-disease pathways in mouse models.
