Also known by the synonyms Group VI phospholipase A2, iPLA2-beta, PNPLA9, CaI-PLA2, and intracellular membrane-associated calcium-independent phospholipase A2 beta, the target is detected with specificity for natural and recombinant mouse 85/88 kDa calcium-independent phospholipase A2. The kit is positioned for studying PLA2G6 dysregulation, which has been linked to neurological disorders, neuroinflammation, and neurodegeneration. Functionally, PLA2G6 catalyzes the release of fatty acids from phospholipids and has been implicated in normal phospholipid remodeling, nitric oxide-induced or vasopressin-induced arachidonic acid release, leukotriene and prostaglandin production, fas-mediated apoptosis, transmembrane ion flux regulation in glucose-stimulated B-cells, cardiolipin deacylation, and monocyte MCP1/CCL2-induced chemotaxis through regulation of F-actin polymerization at pseudopods.
