IL-1β (Interleukin-1 beta) is a 17 kDa pro-inflammatory cytokine released by activated macrophages and monocytes after caspase-1 cleavage of its inactive pro-form. It acts as a central mediator of innate immunity, driving fever, leukocyte recruitment, and acute-phase protein induction. Dysregulated circulating IL-1β is investigated in sepsis, autoinflammatory disease, and vaccine-challenge studies. Assay Genie's non-human primate reagent enables translational cytokine profiling because macaque IL-1β shares close amino-acid homology with the human ortholog, supporting pharmacodynamic and immunogenicity readouts in cynomolgus and rhesus macaque models.

The reagent has been validated for quantification of endogenous IL-1β in NHP-derived samples, with no significant cross-reactivity reported for unrelated cytokines. The microplate is pre-coated with a monoclonal anti-monkey IL-1β capture antibody, paired with a biotinylated detection antibody and streptavidin-HRP conjugate.
