MMP-2 Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit

A cell-based ELISA kit from Assay Genie for the qualitative detection of MMP-2 protein expression in cultured cells. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method read at 450 nm in an indirect ELISA format: MMP-2 is captured by target-specific primary antibodies, and HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies catalyse the colour reaction upon substrate addition. The kit is lysate-free and suited to high-throughput screening of relative MMP-2 levels, including the effects of treatments, inhibitors such as siRNA or chemicals, or activators on adherent cell cultures.

Normalisation is supported by a monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody included as an internal positive control and by Crystal Violet whole-cell staining for determining cell density. Reactivity is reported for Human, Mouse and Rat samples, with a dynamic range of greater than 5000 cells. Storage is at 4 °C with a stated stability of 6 months, and the kit is supplied in a 96-well microplate format. The target, MMP-2 (also known as gelatinase A), is a zinc-dependent metalloproteinase involved in extracellular matrix degradation and has been linked to cancer, arthritis and cardiovascular disorders.
